1. Weldability
For a myriad of product applications, welding performance is pivotal. Some products, like certain tableware sets, may not emphasize welding, including various pot manufacturers. However, for most goods, superior welding capabilities of the materials are indispensable. This includes items like second-class tableware, thermos flasks, steel conduits, water heaters, and dispensers, underscoring the need for exceptional weldability.
2. Corrosion resistance
Exemplary corrosion resistance is crucial for numerous stainless steel products, such as Class I and II tableware, culinary tools, water heaters, and dispensers. International clients often conduct rigorous corrosion resistance assessments: immersing the product in a NACL aqueous solution, bringing it to a boil, then after a set duration, draining, washing, drying, and measuring the weight reduction to gauge corrosion levels. (Note: During testing, polished surfaces can develop rust due to Fe content in abrasive materials like cloth or sandpaper.)
3. Polishing performance
In the contemporary landscape, nearly all stainless steel goods undergo polishing, with exceptions like certain water heater and water dispenser components. This demands superior polishing properties in raw materials. The primary factors influencing this include:
(1) Surface imperfections of raw materials, such as scratches, pitting, and pickling.
(2) Raw material issues, where inadequate hardness can impede polishing quality (poor BQ properties), while excessive softness can cause surface anomalies like orange peel during deep drawing, affecting BQ properties. Higher hardness tends to enhance BQ properties.
(3) In deep-drawn products, minor black spots and RIDGING may emerge in highly deformed areas, impacting BQ performance.
4. Heat resistance
Remarkable heat resistance allows stainless steel to retain its outstanding physical and mechanical attributes even under elevated temperatures.
Influence of carbon: Carbon, a potent austenite stabilizer, expands the austenite range in austenitic stainless steels. With approximately 30 times the austenite-forming capacity of nickel, carbon, an interstitial element, substantially enhances the strength of austenitic stainless steel through solid solution strengthening. It also boosts the stress corrosion resistance of these steels in highly concentrated chloride solutions, such as a 42% MgCl2 boiling solution.
