Main Features
1. Weldability
Different product applications demand varying degrees of welding performance. For example, standard tableware typically does not require exceptional welding capabilities, including kinds used by some cookware manufacturers. Nonetheless, most products, such as advanced tableware, thermos flasks, steel pipes, water heaters, and dispensers, necessitate superior welding properties in their raw materials for optimal performance.
2. Corrosion resistance
High corrosion resistance is a critical requirement for most stainless steel products, including Class I and II tableware, kitchen utensils, water heaters, and dispensers. International clients often conduct rigorous corrosion resistance evaluations, involving tests with NaCl aqueous solutions boiled to simulate harsh conditions. Post-test evaluations focus on weight loss to assess corrosion levels. Note: During polishing, iron particles from abrasive tools may cause surface rust spots during these tests.
3. Polishing performance
In contemporary manufacturing, polishing is commonplace for stainless steel products, although certain items like water heater tanks and dispenser liners may opt out. Therefore, excellent polishing performance is essential for raw materials. Key influencing factors include:
(1) Surface imperfections in raw materials, such as scratches, pits, and etching marks.
(2) Material hardness issues. Low hardness complicates polishing due to insufficient BQ properties, leading to 'orange peel' effects during deep drawing. Conversely, higher hardness enhances BQ properties.
(3) Deep-drawn products may exhibit small black spots and ridges in heavily deformed areas, impacting the BQ performance.
4. Heat resistance
The ability of stainless steel to preserve its superior physical and mechanical qualities at elevated temperatures is defined as heat resistance.
Influence of carbon: Carbon plays a pivotal role in forming and stabilizing austenite while expanding its region in austenitic stainless steels. Its austenite-forming ability is approximately 30 times that of nickel. Furthermore, as an interstitial element, carbon significantly boosts the strength of austenitic stainless steels through solid solution strengthening. Additionally, carbon enhances stress corrosion resistance in environments with high chloride concentrations, such as boiling 42% MgCl2 solutions.
