304 L: Same characteristics as 304, but with low carbon, it is more corrosion-resistant and easy to be heat-treated, but has poor mechanical properties. It is suitable for welding and products that are not easy to be heat-treated.
304 N: The same characteristics as 304, it is a nitrogen-containing stainless steel, nitrogen is added to improve the strength of the steel.
309: Compared with 304, it has better temperature resistance, and the temperature resistance is as high as 980ºC.
309 S: It has a lot of chromium and nickel, so it has good heat resistance and oxidation resistance. Products such as heat exchangers, boiler components, and jet engines.
310: Excellent high temperature oxidation resistance, the maximum operating temperature is 1200 ºC.
316: After 304, the second most widely used steel grade, mainly used in the food industry, watch accessories, pharmaceutical industry and surgical equipment, adding molybdenum to obtain a special structure that is resistant to corrosion. Because of its better resistance to chloride corrosion than 304, it is also used as "marine steel". SS316 is usually used in nuclear fuel recovery units. Grade 18/10 stainless steels generally also meet this application level.
316 L: Low carbon, so it is more resistant to corrosion and easy to heat treatment. Products such as chemical processing equipment, nuclear power generators, and refrigerant storage tanks.
321: Similar to 304, except that the risk of corrosion of material welds is reduced due to the addition of titanium.
347: Add stabilizing element niobium, suitable for welding aircraft parts and chemical equipment.
400 series: ferritic and martensitic stainless steel, manganese-free, to some extent replace 304 stainless steel
408: Good heat resistance, weak corrosion resistance, 11% Cr, 8% Ni.
409: The cheapest model (UK and US), usually used as a car exhaust pipe, is a ferritic stainless steel (chromium steel).
410: Martensitic (high-strength chromium steel), with good wear resistance and poor corrosion resistance.
416: The addition of sulfur improves the processing properties of the material.
420: "Cutting-grade" martensitic steel, the earliest stainless steel similar to Brinell's high-chromium steel. Also used in surgical knives, can do very bright.
430: Ferritic stainless steel, decorative, eg for car accessories. Good formability, but poor temperature and corrosion resistance.
440: High-strength cutting tool steel with slightly higher carbon content. After proper heat treatment, higher yield strength can be obtained, and the hardness can reach 58HRC, which is one of the hardest stainless steels. The most common application example is "razor blades". There are three commonly used models: 440A, 440B, 440C, and 440F (easy to process).
500 Series: Heat-resistant chromium alloy steel.
600 Series: Martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel.

Dull surface: NO.2D cold-rolled, heat-treated and pickled, its material is soft and its surface is silver-white luster, which is used for deep drawing processing, such as automotive components, water pipes, etc.
Matte surface: NO.2B cold-rolled, heat-treated, pickled, and then finish-rolled to make the surface moderately bright. 1. Weldability
Different product uses have different requirements for welding performance. A class of tableware generally does not require welding performance, and even includes some pot enterprises. However, most products require good welding performance of raw materials, such as second-class tableware, thermos cups, steel pipes, water heaters, water dispensers, etc.
2. Corrosion resistance
Most stainless steel products require good corrosion resistance, such as Class I and II tableware, kitchen utensils, water heaters, water dispensers, etc. Some foreign merchants also do corrosion resistance tests on the products: use NACL aqueous solution to heat it to boiling, and pour it after a period of time. Remove the solution, wash and dry, and weigh the weight loss to determine the degree of corrosion (Note: When the product is polished, the Fe content in the abrasive cloth or sandpaper will cause rust spots on the surface during the test)
3. Polishing performance
In today's society, stainless steel products are generally polished during production, and only a few products such as water heaters and water dispenser liner do not need polishing. Therefore, this requires that the polishing performance of the raw material is very good. The main factors that affect the polishing performance are as follows:
(1)Surface defects of raw materials. Such as scratches, pitting, pickling, etc.
(2)The problem of raw materials. If the hardness is too low, it will not be easy to polish when polishing (the BQ property is not good), and if the hardness is too low, the orange peel phenomenon is easy to appear on the surface during deep drawing, thus affecting the BQ property. BQ properties with high hardness are relatively good.
(3)For the deep-drawn product, small black spots and RIDGING will appear on the surface of the area with a large amount of deformation, thus affecting the BQ performance.
4. Heat resistance
Heat resistance means that stainless steel can still maintain its excellent physical and mechanical properties at high temperatures.
Influence of carbon: Carbon is an element that strongly forms and stabilizes austenite and expands the austenite region in austenitic stainless steels. The ability of carbon to form austenite is about 30 times that of nickel, and carbon is an interstitial element that can significantly increase the strength of austenitic stainless steel through solid solution strengthening. Carbon can also improve the stress corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel in highly concentrated chloride (such as 42% MgCl2 boiling solution).
