(1) By purpose, carbon steel is categorized into several types: carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel, and free-cutting structural steel. (3) According to the deoxidation method, carbon steel is divided into boiling steel (F), killed steel (Z), semi-killed steel (b), and special killed steel (TZ), each with distinct properties suited to different industrial needs.
(4) Based on carbon content, carbon steel is divided into three main categories: low carbon steel (WC ≤ 0.25%), medium carbon steel (WC 0.25%-0.6%), and high carbon steel (WC > 0.6%), each serving unique roles in various applications.
(5) Classified by quality, carbon steel includes ordinary carbon steel with higher phosphorus and sulfur content, high-quality carbon steel with reduced levels, advanced high-quality steel, and extra high-quality steel for demanding uses.
Common steel grades and uses:
08F: Known for its low carbon mass fraction, this steel offers excellent plasticity and lower strength, ideal for creating stamping parts in automotive and instrument housings.
