(1) Carbon steel is categorized by its purpose into: carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel, and free-cutting structural steel. Further subclassifications include engineering construction steel and machine manufacturing structural steel under carbon structural steel.
(2) Based on the smelting technique, carbon steel is divided into open hearth steel and converter steel, each with unique properties and applications.
(3) According to the deoxidation process, it is segmented into boiling steel (F), killed steel (Z), semi-killed steel (b), and special killed steel (TZ), each offering distinct benefits.
(4) By carbon content, carbon steel is classified into low carbon steel (WC ≤ 0.25%), medium carbon steel (WC 0.25%-0.6%), and high carbon steel (WC > 0.6%), catering to diverse industrial needs.
(5) In terms of quality, carbon steel is defined as ordinary carbon steel (higher phosphorus and sulfur content), high-quality carbon steel (lower phosphorus and sulfur content), advanced high-quality steel, and extra high-quality steel.
