1. Weldability
The welding performance requirements vary depending on the intended use of the product. While some tableware and pot manufacturers may not prioritize welding performance, the majority of products, such as second-class tableware, thermos cups, steel pipes, water heaters, and water dispensers, demand excellent weldability from their raw materials.
2. Corrosion resistance
Exceptional corrosion resistance is a crucial requirement for most stainless steel products, including Class I and II tableware, kitchen utensils, water heaters, and water dispensers. Some international clients conduct corrosion resistance tests, wherein products are exposed to boiling NACL aqueous solutions. Afterward, they are washed, dried, and weighed to assess weight loss and thus determine corrosion levels (Note: Polishing can introduce Fe content from abrasive cloth or sandpaper, leading to potential rust spots during testing).
3. Polishing performance
In our modern world, the majority of stainless steel products undergo polishing during production. Only select items, such as water heater and water dispenser liners, may skip this step. Therefore, superior polishing performance in raw materials is essential. The main influencing factors include:
(1) Surface defects of raw materials, such as scratches, pitting, and pickling, that may compromise the finish.
(2) Material hardness plays a pivotal role. Low hardness can complicate polishing efforts and diminish BQ (Brightness Quality) properties, leading to orange peel effects during deep drawing. Conversely, higher hardness generally enhances BQ properties.
(3) For deep-drawn products, small black spots and ridging may appear on surfaces with significant deformation, affecting BQ performance.
4. Heat resistance
Heat resistance is the ability of stainless steel to retain its outstanding physical and mechanical properties even when exposed to high temperatures, making it a reliable choice for demanding applications.
Influence of carbon: Carbon plays a crucial role as it strongly forms and stabilizes austenite, significantly expanding the austenite region in austenitic stainless steels.
