1. Weldability
The versatile applications of our products mean varying demands for welding performance. For instance, certain tableware may not require welding capabilities, which is common in some pot-making industries. However, a majority of products do necessitate superior welding properties in their raw materials. This includes items like our various tableware options, thermos cups, durable steel pipes, water heaters, and water dispensers, ensuring they stand the test of time and usage.
2. Corrosion resistance
Essential for numerous stainless steel items is robust corrosion resistance, crucial for high-quality tableware, kitchen essentials, reliable water heaters, and efficient water dispensers. Some international clients conduct rigorous corrosion resistance tests on products. They use a NaCl aqueous solution, heat it to boiling, pour it over the product, then wash and dry it, measuring weight loss to gauge corrosion levels. Note: During polishing, the Fe content in any abrasive cloth or sandpaper can trigger rust spots in tests.
3. Polishing performance
In today's market, stainless steel items often undergo polishing during manufacturing, with only a select few, like water heaters and certain water dispenser liners, exempt from this process. Hence, excellent polishing performance is crucial for the raw materials. Key factors influencing polishability include:
(1) Surface defects of raw materials, such as scratches, pitting, and pickling, can affect polish quality.
(2) Material hardness issues can impede polishing effectiveness. Low hardness hampers polishing ease (diminishing BQ property), while also potentially causing orange peel effects during deep drawing, thus affecting the BQ property. Conversely, higher hardness generally enhances BQ properties.
(3) Deep-drawn products can exhibit small black spots and RIDGING in highly deformed areas, impacting BQ performance.
4. Heat resistance
Heat resistance is defined by stainless steel's ability to retain its excellent physical and mechanical properties, even at elevated temperatures.
Influence of carbon: Carbon plays a pivotal role in forming and stabilizing austenite, expanding its region in austenitic stainless steels. Its ability to form austenite is remarkably potent, being approximately 30 times that of nickel. As an interstitial element, carbon significantly enhances the strength of austenitic stainless steel through solid solution strengthening. Moreover, it bolsters the stress corrosion resistance of these steels in highly concentrated chloride environments, such as a 42% MgCl2 boiling solution.
