  Hot-dip galvanized steel pipes are widely used in construction, machinery, coal mines, chemicals, electric power, railway vehicles, automobile industry, highways, bridges, containers, sports facilities, agricultural machinery, petroleum machinery, prospecting machinery, greenhouse construction and other manufacturing industries.
   Galvanized steel pipe is a welded steel pipe with a hot-dip galvanized or electro-galvanized layer on the surface. Galvanizing can increase the corrosion resistance of steel pipes and prolong the service life. Galvanized pipes are widely used. In addition to being used as pipeline pipes for general low-pressure fluids such as water, gas, and oil, they are also used as oil well pipes and oil pipes in the petroleum industry, especially in offshore oil fields, and oil heaters and condensers in chemical coking equipment. Pipes for coolers, coal distillation washing oil exchangers, and pipes for trestle piles, supporting frames for mine tunnels, etc.
   Hot-dip galvanized pipe is to make the molten metal react with the iron matrix to produce an alloy layer, so that the matrix and the coating are combined. Hot-dip galvanizing is to pickle the steel pipe first. In order to remove the iron oxide on the surface of the steel pipe, after pickling, it is cleaned in the tank of ammonium chloride or zinc chloride aqueous solution or mixed aqueous solution of ammonium chloride and zinc chloride, and then sent to the in the hot dip bath. Hot-dip galvanizing has the advantages of uniform coating, strong adhesion and long service life. The hot-dip galvanized steel pipe substrate undergoes complex physical and chemical reactions with the molten plating solution to form a corrosion-resistant zinc-iron alloy layer with a compact structure. The alloy layer is integrated with the pure zinc layer and the steel pipe substrate, so it has strong corrosion resistance.
   Cold galvanized pipe is electro-galvanized, and the amount of galvanized is very small, only 10-50g/m2. Its corrosion resistance is much different than that of hot-dip galvanized pipe. In order to ensure the quality, most regular galvanized pipe manufacturers do not use electro-galvanized (cold plating). Only those small enterprises with outdated equipment use electrogalvanizing, and of course their prices are relatively cheap. The Ministry of Construction has officially issued an order to eliminate cold galvanized pipes with outdated technology, and not to use cold galvanized pipes for water and gas pipes. The galvanized layer of cold galvanized steel pipe is an electroplating layer, and the zinc layer is independently layered with the steel pipe substrate. The zinc layer is thin, and the zinc layer simply adheres to the steel pipe substrate and is easy to fall off. Therefore, its corrosion resistance is poor.

Rust removal method
(1).  First, use a solvent to clean the surface of the steel to remove the organic matter on the surface.
(2).  Then use tools to remove rust (wire brush), remove loose or inclined scale, rust, welding slag, etc.,
(3). Use pickling method.
Galvanizing is divided into hot-dip and cold-dip, hot-dip is not easy to rust, cold-dip is easier to rust.

  Zinc plating refers to the surface treatment technology of coating a layer of zinc on the surface of metal, alloy or other materials to play the role of beauty and rust prevention. The main method used is hot-dip galvanizing.
  Zinc is soluble in acid and alkali, so it is called amphoteric metal. Zinc hardly changes in dry air. In humid air, a dense basic zinc carbonate film is formed on the zinc surface. In the atmosphere containing sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and marine, the corrosion resistance of zinc is poor, especially in the atmosphere of high temperature and high humidity containing organic acid, the zinc coating is easily corroded. The standard electrode potential of zinc is -0.76V. For the steel substrate, the zinc coating is an anodic coating, which is mainly used to prevent the corrosion of steel, and its protective performance has a great relationship with the thickness of the coating. The protective and decorative properties of the zinc coating can be significantly improved after passivation treatment, dyeing or coating with a light protectant.
  There are two main types of galvanizing processes: hot-dip galvanizing and cold galvanizing. Cold galvanizing is also called electro-galvanizing. Electrogalvanizing is mainly discussed here. There are many kinds of electro-galvanizing. But from the PH value of the galvanizing bath, there are two main categories: alkaline galvanizing and acid galvanizing.
 Alkaline galvanized
  The alkaline galvanizing process means that the pH value of the plating solution is alkaline. However, due to different complexing agents, it is divided into two types: cyanide zinc plating and zincate zinc plating. Cyanide zinc plating is a very old type of plating. There are three main components in the plating solution: main salt zinc oxide, complexing agent sodium cyanide and conductive salt sodium hydroxide (commonly known as caustic soda). There was no brightener in the early cyanide plating solutions. With the improvement of people's aesthetic requirements, a brightening agent for brightening is added to the cyanide liquid zinc plating solution. The cyanide galvanizing process is stable and the coating is meticulous. The plating solution has good dispersion ability. According to the different content of sodium cyanide, it is divided into three types: high cyanide, medium cyanide and low cyanide zinc plating. The biggest disadvantage of zinc cyanide is that it is too toxic and seriously harmful to the environment.
Zinc galvanizing is a galvanizing process that has developed rapidly in the past 30 years. Its main components are the main salt zinc oxide, complexing agent and conductive salt sodium hydroxide (commonly known as caustic soda). In order to obtain a bright coating with fine dispersion ability, a brightener is also added. The main development period of domestic zincate galvanizing is the era of cyanide-free galvanizing in the 1970s, and the famous DPE galvanizing process and DE galvanizing process have been used all the time. Although this process is not as stable and meticulous as the cyanide zinc plating process. But its biggest advantage is that it is cyanide-free. Much less harm to the environment. Zinc-zinc galvanizing has a new development, defects such as blistering and brittleness have been overcome, and the dispersing ability has been greatly improved, which can be compared with cyanide galvanizing.
 Acid galvanized
  The PH value of the bath is 4-6. The second result of cyanide-free zinc plating in the 1970s was cyanide-free ammonium chloride zinc plating. It goes hand in hand with zincate alkaline galvanizing. It uses zinc chloride as the main salt, and ammonium chloride as the complexing agent and conductive salt. Citric acid and nitrilotriacetic acid are auxiliary complexing agents. Polyethylene glycol and thiourea are used as coating refiners. The coating obtained from this bath is fine and has good dispersibility. The plating solution is less toxic. But the main disadvantage is that the plating solution is unstable, and the ammonium chloride gas emitted is very corrosive to the electroplating equipment. Current efficiency is also lower. Strong sensitivity to impurities. Narrow operating temperature range. It has been basically eliminated by the potassium chloride galvanizing process.
Potassium chloride (or sodium chloride) zinc plating process
  The potassium chloride (or sodium chloride) zinc plating process is a new cyanide-free zinc plating process developed in the 1980s. Its main components are: zinc chloride main salt, generally used in a content of 70-90g/L. Potassium chloride is used as conductive salt, and its content ranges from 140-280g/L, which can be adjusted arbitrarily according to different needs. Boric acid is used as a pH buffer to stabilize the pH between 4.6-5.6. Since this plating solution works at room temperature, the solubility of boric acid is not high, and the general content is controlled at 25-30g/L.
  These three components alone cannot produce a qualified zinc coating. Some additives are also added to obtain a bright, detailed zinc coating. The advantages of potassium chloride zinc plating are stable plating solution, bright and delicate coating, low cost, high current efficiency and non-toxicity. The disadvantage is that the dispersing ability of the plating solution is slightly worse than that of alkaline zinc plating, and the brittleness of the coating is also larger. Nonetheless, potassium chloride galvanizing was immediately popular. The development is very rapid, and it has occupied half of the galvanized country. From the market point of view, the zinc plating process is mainly two kinds of plating: alkaline zincate and acid potassium chloride zinc plating. Other galvanizing processes have been dwarfed and slowly withdrawn from the stage of history.
  There is also a sulfate galvanizing process in the acid galvanizing process. Its main component is the main salt zinc sulfate. The content is between 250-500g/L. Alum or aluminum sulfate as conductive salt. The content is between 30-50g/L. Conductive salts are also added with sodium sulfate or sodium chloride. In addition to the above, some additives are also added to make the coating finer. At first, dextrin or gum was used, and later, some special brighteners were invented to make the coating more bright and detailed. The biggest advantage of sulfate zinc plating is that it can use a large current density (1-5A/dm2), and the plating speed is fast. But the disadvantage is that the dispersing ability of the plating solution is very poor, and it is not suitable for plating more complex workpieces.
  Due to its particularity, sulfate galvanizing is mainly used in industries with simple shapes and strong continuous production, such as plated iron wire, steel strip, and steel plate.
