Specifications are denoted by diameter, such as "50," indicating a round steel rod with a 50 mm diameter. 1. Weldability
The demands for welding performance vary significantly across different product applications. While certain tableware categories may not prioritize welding performance, such as some pot enterprises, the majority of products unequivocally demand superior welding capabilities from raw materials. This includes essential items like second-class tableware, thermos cups, steel pipes, water heaters, and water dispensers, where exceptional weldability is non-negotiable.
2. Corrosion resistance
A paramount attribute for most stainless steel products is their outstanding corrosion resistance, vital for items like Class I and II tableware, kitchen utensils, water heaters, and water dispensers. International clients often conduct rigorous corrosion resistance tests, involving heating in a NACL aqueous solution. Once boiled, the solution is decanted, followed by washing, drying, and weighing to assess weight loss and corrosion degree. (Note: During polishing, iron content from abrasive materials could instigate rust spots, affecting test results.)
3. Polishing performance
In an era where aesthetics elevate product value, most stainless steel products undergo meticulous polishing in production, with a few exceptions like certain water heaters and water dispenser liners. This necessitates superior polishing performance from the raw materials. Key factors influencing polishing efficiency include:
(1) Surface quality of raw materials: imperfections such as scratches, pitting, and pickling can significantly impact the polishing outcome.
(2) Raw material hardness: Low hardness complicates polishing (indicating poor BQ properties), while excessively low hardness may cause surface defects like orange peel during deep drawing, adversely influencing BQ properties. Generally, higher hardness is beneficial for optimal BQ properties.
(3) Deep-drawn products often present small black spots and ridging in highly deformed areas, detracting from BQ performance.
4. Heat resistance
Heat resistance is a crucial quality allowing stainless steel to maintain its excellent physical and mechanical properties even under extreme temperatures.
Influence of carbon: Carbon plays a pivotal role in the composition of austenitic stainless steels, dramatically enhancing their characteristics. It strongly influences the formation and stabilization of austenite, expanding its region, with austenitic-forming capacity approximately 30 times that of nickel. As an interstitial element, carbon significantly boosts the strength of austenitic stainless steel through solid solution strengthening and enhances stress corrosion resistance in high chloride environments (e.g., 42% MgCl2 boiling solution).
