They are essential for seawater equipment, chemical processes, dye production, paper manufacture, oxalic acid, fertilizers, and support the food industry, coastal facilities, and components like ropes, CD rods, bolts, and nuts.
1. Weldability
Different product applications demand varying degrees of welding performance. While certain tableware, including some pot enterprises, may not prioritize weldability, many other products insist on superior welding capabilities in raw materials. This requirement is especially crucial for secondary tableware, thermos cups, steel pipes, water heaters, water dispensers, and similar items.
2. Corrosion resistance
Stainless steel products, such as Class I and II tableware, kitchen utensils, water heaters, and water dispensers, often necessitate exemplary corrosion resistance. International clients frequently conduct rigorous corrosion resistance evaluations, employing a NaCl aqueous solution heated to its boiling point. Post-heating, the solution is drained, the product is washed and dried, and any loss in weight is assessed to determine corrosion levels. Note: During this process, Fe content from abrasive materials like cloth or sandpaper can impart rust spots on the polished surface.
3. Polishing performance
In the modern world, the vast majority of stainless steel products undergo polishing during manufacturing, exempting only a few items such as water heater linings and water dispenser interiors. Consequently, raw materials must exhibit exceptional polishing performance, influenced primarily by the following factors:
(1) Surface defects inherent in raw materials, including scratches, pitting, and pickling anomalies, can affect polishing outcomes.
(2) Raw material challenges: Insufficient hardness can complicate the polishing process, as low hardness may lead to poor BQ properties and cause an orange peel effect during deep drawing. Conversely, higher hardness generally enhances BQ characteristics.
(3) Deep-drawn products may develop small black spots and RIDGING on highly deformed surfaces, impacting BQ performance.
4. Heat resistance
Heat resistance denotes the capability of stainless steel to retain its superior physical and mechanical attributes, even when subjected to elevated temperatures.
Carbon's influence: Carbon plays a pivotal role in austenitic stainless steels by forming and stabilizing austenite, significantly expanding the austenite region. Its potency in forming austenite surpasses nickel by approximately 30 times. As an interstitial element, carbon substantially boosts the strength of austenitic stainless steel through solid solution strengthening. Furthermore, carbon enhances the stress corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel, especially in highly concentrated chloride solutions, such as 42% MgCl2 boiling solution.
