1. Weldability

Welding performance requirements vary across different product applications. While certain tableware categories might not emphasize welding capabilities, other items such as second-class tableware, thermos cups, steel pipes, water heaters, and water dispensers demand exceptional welding attributes in their raw materials for optimal functionality.

2. Corrosion Resistance

For most stainless steel products, exceptional corrosion resistance is paramount. Products like Class I and II tableware, kitchen utensils, and various water heating and dispensing devices rely heavily on this trait. As a testament to its durability, some international buyers conduct rigorous corrosion resistance tests: immersing products in a NACL solution heated to boiling, followed by washing, drying, and weighing to evaluate any loss of weight that indicates corrosion. Please note: during polishing, the Fe content in abrasive materials can cause surface rust in tests.

(1) Surface imperfections of raw materials, including scratches, pitting, and pickling.
(2) Raw material characteristics. Excessively low hardness complicates polishing efforts and adversely affects the BQ property by inducing the orange peel effect during deep drawing. Conversely, higher hardness enhances BQ properties.
(3) In deep-drawn products, significant surface deformations can result in small black spots and ridging, which may impact BQ performance.

Heat resistance ensures that stainless steel retains its superior physical and mechanical properties even under extreme temperatures, showcasing its resilience and reliability.
Influence of Carbon: Carbon plays a pivotal role in forming and stabilizing austenite while expanding its region in austenitic stainless steels. It is approximately 30 times more effective than nickel in austenite formation, and as an interstitial element, it significantly enhances the strength of austenitic stainless steel through solid solution strengthening. Furthermore, carbon boosts stress corrosion resistance in austenitic stainless steels, especially in high-concentration chloride environments like a boiling 42% MgCl2 solution.
