2. Exceptional Corrosion Resistance
The majority of stainless steel offerings demand outstanding corrosion resistance to serve a wide spectrum of applications. This includes both Class I and II tableware, kitchen tools, water heaters, and dispensers. International clients often conduct rigorous corrosion tests, such as immersing products in a NACL solution brought to boiling, before evaluating the impact by washing, drying, and weighing the resulting weight loss. This process determines corrosion levels. Note that during polishing, the Fe content in abrasive cloths or sandpaper may lead to rust spots during such tests.

In the contemporary manufacturing landscape, stainless steel products predominantly undergo a polishing process, with exceptions like certain water heater and dispenser liners. This mandates that raw materials possess excellent polishability. Key factors influencing polishing performance include:
(1) Surface anomalies in raw materials, such as scratches, pitting, and pickling marks.
(2) Intrinsic raw material properties. Low hardness can hinder polishing ease and compromise BQ properties. Conversely, low hardness may also evoke an orange peel effect on surfaces during deep drawing, affecting BQ performance. Materials with higher hardness generally exhibit superior BQ properties.
(3) For deep-drawn items, extensive deformation can introduce tiny black spots and ridging on surfaces, adversely impacting BQ performance.

As an interstitial element, carbon significantly enhances the strength of austenitic stainless steel via solid solution strengthening. It also augments stress corrosion resistance in highly concentrated chloride environments, such as a 42% MgCl2 boiling solution.
