1. Weldability
The welding performance of stainless steel varies depending on the product's application. While first-class tableware and certain cookware may not prioritize welding properties, the majority of stainless steel products, such as second-class tableware, thermos flasks, steel pipes, water heaters, and dispensers, demand superior welding capabilities. These products require raw materials that seamlessly bond during manufacturing, ensuring durability and reliability.
2. Corrosion resistance
The hallmark of stainless steel excellence lies in its corrosion resistance. Essential for products such as Class I and II tableware, kitchen tools, water heaters, and dispensers, exceptional corrosion resistance ensures longevity and quality. International clients often conduct rigorous corrosion tests, including immersing products in NACL aqueous solutions, boiling, and measuring weight loss to evaluate corrosion levels. Caution: During testing, iron content from polishing materials may lead to surface rust spots.
3. Polishing performance
In the modern manufacturing landscape, stainless steel's polishability is paramount. As the majority of products undergo a polishing process, only a select few, like certain water heater tanks and dispensers, remain unpolished. Consequently, the raw material's innate polishing performance plays a critical role. Key factors influencing this include:
(1) Surface imperfections in the raw material, such as scratches, pitting, and pickling.
(2) Material hardness issues. Low hardness can hinder polishing, compromising the BQ property, while also causing surface orange peel during deep drawing. In contrast, higher hardness tends to enhance BQ properties.
(3) For deep-drawn products, significant deformation areas may develop small black spots and RIDGING, adversely affecting BQ performance.
4. Heat resistance
Heat resistance refers to the ability of stainless steel to retain its superior physical and mechanical properties even at elevated temperatures.
Role of carbon: Carbon is a potent austenite former and stabilizer, expanding the austenite range in austenitic stainless steels. Its austenite-forming capacity is dramatically about 30 times that of nickel. As an interstitial element, carbon significantly enhances the strength of austenitic stainless steel through solid solution strengthening. Moreover, carbon boosts the material's stress corrosion resistance in highly concentrated chloride environments, such as a 42% MgCl2 boiling solution.
