Main Features
1. Weldability
Diverse applications demand distinct welding characteristics. For instance, certain tableware products generally overlook welding requirements, even among some cookware manufacturers. However, a vast array of items relies on superior welding capabilities in their raw materials. This includes second-class tableware, thermos cups, steel pipes, water heaters, and water dispensers, where exceptional weldability is pivotal.
2. Corrosion resistance
A hallmark of stellar stainless steel products is their robust corrosion resistance, vital for Class I and II tableware, kitchen utensils, water heaters, and water dispensers. International buyers sometimes conduct rigorous corrosion tests: using a NaCl aqueous solution, they heat it to boiling, immerse the product, then remove, rinse, dry, and weigh to assess weight loss and corrosion level. Note: Polished surfaces may develop rust spots due to Fe content from abrasive materials during testing.
3. Polishing performance
In our modern world, the allure of polished stainless steel is undeniable, as it's a standard in most productions, save for exceptions like water heater and dispenser liners. Hence, stainless steel raw materials must exhibit impeccable polishing capabilities. Factors affecting this include:
(1) Surface imperfections such as scratches, pitting, and pickling.
(2) Raw material challenges. Reduced hardness complicates polishing, affecting BQ properties, and exacerbates surface 'orange peel' effects during deep drawing. Conversely, higher hardness enhances BQ characteristics.
(3) Products requiring deep drawing may show small black spots and ridging in highly deformed areas, compromising BQ performance.
4. Heat resistance
Heat resistance pertains to the ability of stainless steel to retain its superior physical and mechanical properties even in high-temperature environments.
Influence of carbon: Carbon plays a crucial role in forming and stabilizing austenite, expanding its region in austenitic stainless steels. Its austenite-forming capability is about 30 times that of nickel. As an interstitial element, carbon significantly enhances the strength of austenitic stainless steel through solid solution strengthening and boosts stress corrosion resistance in highly concentrated chloride environments, such as a 42% MgCl2 boiling solution.
