Subsequently, the pipe is submerged in a hot dip bath. This technique is renowned for its uniform coating, robust adhesion, and extended lifespan. As the hot-dip galvanized steel pipe engages in intricate physical and chemical exchanges with the molten plating solution, it forms a corrosion-resistant zinc-iron alloy layer, boasting an impressive compact structure. This alloy layer integrates seamlessly with both the pure zinc coating and the steel pipe, delivering formidable corrosion resistance.
Cold galvanized pipes, also known as electro-galvanized, feature a minimal zinc coating, ranging from just 10-50g/m2, resulting in significantly inferior corrosion resistance compared to their hot-dip counterparts. Reputable galvanized pipe manufacturers predominantly refrain from employing electro-galvanization, largely due to its qualitative shortcomings. However, the Ministry of Construction mandates the phasing out of such antiquated technology, disallowing the use of cold galvanized pipes for water and gas applications. The electroplated zinc layer in cold galvanized steel pipes exists independently of the steel substrate, lacking the thickness and adhesion of hot-dip variants, thus rendering it susceptible to peeling and corrosion.
Rust removal method
(1). Initially, employ a solvent to meticulously cleanse the steel surface, eradicating any organic contaminants.
(2). Follow up with mechanical tools, such as wire brushes, to effectively eliminate loose or scaling rust, welding slag, and other surface impurities.
(3). Finally, utilize the pickling method for thorough rust removal.
Galvanizing divides into two primary types: hot-dip and cold-dip. Hot-dip galvanizing offers superior rust resistance, while cold-dip is prone to easier rusting.
How to store galvanized pipes:
For optimal storage of galvanized steel pipes, choose a site or warehouse that is both clean and well-drained, positioned away from factories or mines that emit harmful gases or dust. All vegetation and debris should be cleared, maintaining a pristine environment for the pipes. Corrosive materials such as acid, alkali, salt, and cement must be kept separate, preventing detrimental interaction. Different square tube varieties should be stacked distinctly to avoid mix-ups and contact corrosion. Large sections and items like rails, steel plates, and large-diameter pipes may be stored outdoors.
Smaller items such as square pipes, thin steel plates, steel strips, silicon sheets, and various cold-rolled or galvanized steel pipes, especially those with higher costs and corrosion susceptibility, should be housed indoors. The warehouse should align with geographical factors, preferably an ordinary closed structure with a roof, walls, sealed doors and windows, and proper ventilation for maximum protection.
